We are pleased to announce our expansion to larger premises at The Old Dairy, Breamore.
SITE MANAGER
Due to expansion of the business to new premises in the village of Breamore, Hampshire, we are seeking a Site Manager for the delivery of river restoration works including erosion control and habitat enhancement. This is a full-time permanent post. The Company operates nationally, predominantly in Southern England. When working on large-scale projects, you may be required to stay away 4 nights a week (expenses paid).
This is an ideal opportunity for the professional development of river restoration, aquatic engineering, environmental and project management skills within a committed and experienced team.
Cain Bio-Engineering have been awarded the prestigious Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation Award for Sustainability. Working on a project team in partnership with Balfour Beatty and Mott MacDonald, CBE’s work on the Southington Farm Project won the prize, sponsored by British Airways. The project helped prevent risk of the A36 being damaged by, or even falling into, the river Wylye. Read Full Article
In order to further raise awareness of river restoration techniques and showcase recent successful projects, Cain Bio-Engineering has launched the YouTube channel ‘River Doctor TV‘.

In October 2009 Cain Bio-Engineering implemented the second phase of ‘design/build’ work on the upper Hampshire Avon at East Chisenbury.
650m of the Avon was restored for the ‘Wessex Chalk Streams Project’, a partnership between the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England, the Environment Agency and Wessex Water plc .
In June 2010 Cain Bio-Engineering along with the Wessex Chalk Stream Project partners hosted a Hog Roast Open Day to showcase the restoration and thank all parties involved. Read Full Article
Wild Trout Trust AGM – 10th April 2010
On 10th and 11th April, Hungerford, in the heart of the Kennet valley, is playing host to the Wild Trout Trust’s 2010 AGM and river restoration site visit. Cain Bio-engineering Ltd, as a founder member of the Trust, is delighted to announce its corporate sponsorship of the weekends events.

Wind the clock back to October 2008 and Cain Bio’s restoration team found themselves busy dismantling a fixed crest weir and live sewage pipe on a well known carrier of the River Test in Hampshire. Simon Cain had already been asked to look at the site some 10 years previously but his recommendation to demolish the weir wouldn’t come to fruition until the property changed hands in 2008. Cain Bio’s river engineers are now in the final stage of a major habitat enhancement scheme to restore a 2km reach of the river Kennet near Hungerford in Berkshire. In 2009 an agreement was reached between EA Thames and two adjoining land owners to permanently remove the historic river impoundments (sluices) and allow the ‘linear lake’ to return to its natural free-flowing state. The scheme is also supported by Natural England. Read Full Article
