Solution

Cain Bio-Engineering designed and built a vertical revetment constructed from locally sourced hazel faggots and geotextiles.

The eroded bay was then reclaimed to its original line with imported backfill.

A vegetated marginal mattress was installed to enhance habitats for wetland plant species, fish fry, aquatic invertebrates, amphibians and water voles.

Within weeks of completion a site survey indicated the return of a healthy resident water vole population.
