Project details:

After a very wet winter and spring, damage from moorings combined with vibration from towpath resurfacing led to sections of an already deteriorating bank slipping into the canal.

The repaired bank is now well established and continues to grow. Brushwood below water level is now a spawning site for cyprinid fish species.

This repair was installed in a matter of days without the use of plant machinary and whilst keeping the towpath open to the public.

Cain Bio-Engineering's trademark 'coirnet' revetments are a cost efffective, environmentally sensitive and long lasting alternative to hard engineeering solutions.

Naturalistic and vegetated revetments not only boost local bio-diversity but also grow stronger as complex root systems devlop over time
