"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your hard work during the Sabey's pool bank installation project in Rickmansworth. I understand that ground conditions made working at the site challenging for the duration of the project.
However, all parties involved with the project have agreed that the new structure exceeds all of our expectations and looks absolutely fantastic."

‘The Cain Consultancy were employed on one of our National Framework Agreement projects for the Environment Agency at Sunbury Lock on the River Thames.
The agreement… requires Nuttall Hynes to demonstrate, amongst other things, value engineering, environmental enhancement and value for money. The Cain Consultancy assisted to a great extent at the Sunbury project on all these issues… There is no better reference I could give other than to answer an emphatic Yes to the question – Would I employ them again?’

'English Nature Wiltshire Team has worked with Simon Cain and the Cain Consultancy on a number of projects...over the last 6 years. In these projects we have noted the attention paid to the river's ecology, the care with which the design matches the engineering need to the ecological needs, and the consistently high quality of design and workmanship.'
'English Nature has been consulted over many of the projects carried out by Simon Cain and the Cain Consultancy.....we have been impressed not only by the robust designs and construction methods, but also by the attention given...to the importance and sensitivity of the river system, and their efforts to enhance wildlife in all of their works.'
'In 2001 one of these projects received an English Nature SSSI award, in recognition of it's visionary approach, the restoration of the interests of the SSSI and cSAC, and the creation of considerable additional biodiversity interest.'

'We have known Simon Cain and the Cain Consultancy for approximately five years and have worked with Mr Cain as a consultant for surveys and river revetment work around the Salisbury area. The works have been extremely well received by the Environmental professions and the general public at large who have found them to be sympathetic to the environment in which the work was being carried out.
'The Company has proved to be extremely professional, knowledgeable and efficient and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to undertake works of this nature to whoever.'

'Mr Cain has designed and constructed through his team many successful and complex river restoration schemes both in the UK and overseas. He is viewed by many in the industry as a visionary and it is only recently that the Environment Agency, to whom I am a consultant, has begun to recognise and actively promote the importance of river restoration as practised by Mr Cain over twenty years. Indeed, I have myself worked with him on a number of studies over the past few years, and have no reservations regarding his competence and capability to engineer appropriate enhancements to the fluvial environment.'

British Waterways
'Simon Cain and his team were engaged by British Waterways in November 1999, to investigate the serious bank erosion on the Kennet and Avon canal, to identify the causes and to provide a holistic solution to the problem. British Waterways chose the Cain Consultancy proposal on the basis of their long and detailed understanding of erosion problems, in conjunction with their use of an environmentally friendly, but hitherto unknown technique. The trial R&D scheme in Bradford on Avon was undertaken in February 2000, and the solution proved so successful that the 'Cain' team were engaged to carry out further works ranging from bank and towpath re-construction, to the repair of landing stages undermined by boat wash.'
'The Devizes team subsequently won the BW Southern Regional Conservation Award for the work carried out by 'Cain'.
'The Cain Consultancy continue to work for BW as preferred contractors and several miles of bank work have now been successfully completed for the Heritage Lottery Partnership.'
'British Waterways are totally satisfied with the works undertaken for them by Simon Cain and his team and have no reservations in recommending them to future clients.'

'This letter is to thank you for the high standard of work that your firm has carried out at the above site. As you are aware, our property was severely flooded some 15 months ago due to bank erosion and collapse and it is reassuring to know that, thanks to a highly professional job, the chance of this happening again is remote. It was indeed fortunate for all that Tarmac chose to take on your services to handle this matter'

English Nature
'I am writing to offer English Nature's congratulations to British Waterways in carrying out the bank stabilisation and enhancement works near Bradford on Avon using soft 'bio-engineering' methods in place of the hard sheet piling solution which has been employed in the past.'
'This type of bank stabilisation is an excellent solution for wildlife, providing better marginal habitat and refuges for plants and invertebrates and it has, of course, worked very well in incorporating the protection of water vole burrows into the scheme. It also enhances the landscape value of the waterway by creating a natural fringe of flowering plants'
'English Nature would be very supportive of any plans to repeat this type of work in the future'
