Tyle Mill Moorings

Kennet & Avon Canal

Project Brief

On this stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal heavy boat traffic and the presence of signal crayfish burrowing was leading to canal bank erosion and footpath damage.

In 2007 we were contracted to replace the existing failing hazel revetment with a more permanent solution and include within our designs a bespoke mooring for the canal users.

Our cost effective, soft engineered approach uses the marginal wetland vegetation as a way of dissipating boat bow wave energy, whilst at the same time providing excellent habitat for aquatic species and preventing Signal Crayfish burrowing.
